What is intent?

Intention is another word for mindfulness. It is what enables us to focus on an activity so that it is more than just the action. It is this combination of intellect, attention, and emotion that improves everything that we do. For me, this is what drives my bodywork - this individual attention to the body in front of me and it’s current needs. For you, it’s where you can take the work we do together and incorporate it into how you move daily leading you to a more positive view and life of and inside your own body.

Massage seems like a new career for me, but it really has allowed me to use much of what I have learned in my past education and life experiences. My first educational passion was in neuroscience - and this is a practical application of the that education. The ideas of Buckminster Fuller have always fascinated me and his idea of tensegrity have influenced my view of the human body. We are tensegrity structures ourselves - built to support us with a system of tension and compression. The techniques I learn are all in the goal of creating a sensation of float in your own body. A body that supports you and that you feel comfortable in.
